What You Will Do

Perform system commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting of building automation systems using Johnson Controls commissioning and configuration tools. Diagnose and resolve HVAC mechanical, electrical, controls, and integration issues while ensuring systems operate according to design specifications. Support customer relationships by responding to service and warranty-related requests and providing technical expertise throughout project execution.

How You Will Do It

  • Commission and validate building automation and HVAC control systems, ensuring proper operation from system-level controllers to field devices (sensors, actuators, VFDs, and related equipment).
  • Load, modify, and troubleshoot controller software, graphics, and sequences of operation.
  • Perform advanced system diagnostics, testing, calibration, and functional performance verification.
  • Interpret drawings, specifications, network architecture, and sequences of operation to identify and resolve system deficiencies.
  • Work closely with project teams, subcontractors, and customers to coordinate commissioning activities and project milestones.
  • Document system changes and provide accurate information for as-built drawings and project closeout documentation.
  • Maintain clear communication with customers and internal stakeholders regarding job progress, technical issues, and project status.
  • Complete commissioning reports, deficiency logs, time sheets, expense reports, and other project documentation accurately and on time.
  • Provide technical support and mentoring to junior technicians when required.
  • Ensure compliance with all Johnson Controls and customer safety requirements while maintaining a strong commitment to workplace safety.

What We Look For

Required

  • Minimum 2 years of experience installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, or servicing building automation, HVAC controls, electrical, or related systems.
  • Experience with HVAC equipment and control systems, including sensors, actuators, VFDs, and control devices.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and controls drawings and specifications.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with computers, software applications, and commissioning tools.
  • Ability to use hand tools, testing instruments, and basic electrical diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills with customers, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Depending on location, the installation and termination of low-voltage devices may require specific licenses or certifications.

Preferred

  • Diploma, certificate, or technical degree in HVAC, Electrical, Electronics Engineering Technology, Instrumentation, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with Johnson Controls Metasys or other Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  • Working knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, or other building automation communication protocols.
  • Experience performing startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting of commercial HVAC systems.
  • Ability to independently manage commissioning activities on small to medium-sized projects.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $32.3- $44.6 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
