The BRIDGE Program at the University of Mount Saint Vincent is a two-year, non-degree certificate program designed to provide young adults ages 18–24 with diverse learning needs an inclusive and immersive college experience.

Through a combination of academic instruction, skill development, experiential learning, and individualized support, the BRIDGE Program helps students build greater independence, confidence, and readiness for life beyond college.

Position Summary

The Part-Time BRIDGE Program Instructor plays an important role in supporting the academic, personal, and professional development of students enrolled in the BRIDGE Program. The Instructor provides engaging and inclusive instruction, supports students in developing skills aligned with the program’s core areas, and contributes to an environment that promotes student growth, independence, self-advocacy, and success.

Working collaboratively with BRIDGE Program leadership and colleagues, the Instructor also contributes to student advising and support, program planning, and the ongoing development, assessment, and continuous improvement of the BRIDGE Program.

The Part-Time BRIDGE Program Instructor is scheduled for a maximum of 19 hours per week and reports to the Associate Director for BRIDGE Academic and Student Support.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, and teach four BRIDGE Program courses during the Fall 2026 semester in alignment with program learning objectives and student needs.
  • Develop and deliver engaging, inclusive, and accessible instructional materials and learning activities that support a range of learning styles and abilities.
  • Maintain regularly scheduled on-campus office hours to provide individualized academic support, guidance, and mentoring to students.
  • Support students in developing effective study skills, executive functioning strategies, self-advocacy skills, and greater independence.
  • Monitor student learning and progress and provide timely, constructive feedback designed to promote continued growth and achievement.
  • Collaborate with BRIDGE Program leadership and colleagues to identify and implement appropriate strategies to support student success.
  • Participate in student conduct and support meetings, as appropriate, and contribute to collaborative approaches for addressing student needs.
  • Attend regularly scheduled BRIDGE Program team meetings and actively contribute to program planning, student-support initiatives, and departmental priorities.
  • Under the direction of the Associate Director for BRIDGE Academic and Student Support, contribute to program assessment and/or research activities designed to evaluate program effectiveness, measure student outcomes, and inform continuous improvement.
  • Maintain appropriate student and program records in accordance with University policies and applicable requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned in support of the BRIDGE Program and University priorities.
  • Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, diverse learning needs, or related populations.
  • Demonstrated experience with classroom instruction, student support, or educational programming.
  • Knowledge of effective and inclusive instructional practices and strategies for supporting students with diverse learning needs.
  • Experience developing instructional materials, assessing student learning, and using student outcomes to inform instructional practices.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, families, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and student-centered learning environment.

The salary for this part-time position is an hourly rate of $52. The maximum weekly hours for this position is 19.

This is a part-time, non-benefits-eligible position. Employees in this position are not eligible for University-sponsored health insurance or paid time off (PTO).
