Key Responsibilities: 

Field Support and Environmental Assessments

  • Assist GEMTEC biologists with a variety of field investigations and environmental monitoring activities, including:
    • Ecological Land Classification surveys
    • Headwater Drainage Feature assessments
    • Fish salvage operations
    • Species at Risk assessments and surveys
    • Construction and infrastructure project environmental monitoring
  • Capable of carrying out field duties, which may at times require travel, working in adverse conditions (weather, bugs, etc.), moderate lifting, travelling over rough terrain and working extended hours (evenings/nights, early morning).

Technical Reporting and Office Support

  • Assist with the preparation of technical reports and environmental documentation, including:
    • Compilation, entry, and management of field data
    • Environmental Impact Statements
    • Tree Conservation Reports
    • Fish Habitat Assessments
    • Species at Risk Screening Assessments
    • Field Summary Memoranda
    • Environmental Permitting
    • Construction monitoring reports
  • Collaborate with other professionals in related fields such as environmental scientists, engineers, planners, regulatory authorities, and project stakeholders


Qualifications:
  

  • Bachelor of Science Degree or College Diploma in biology, environmental sciences, forestry, fish and wildlife technology, or other related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience, providing support in environmental impact studies, environmental assessments and environmental permitting and approvals.
  • Experience with environmental fieldwork is considered an asset.
  • Prior work experience in engineering consulting is considered an asset.
  • Ability to travel throughout Eastern Ontario.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.


Compensation and Perks:
 

  • Full-time hourly position
  • Hourly pay rate of $26 - $32 per hour depending on experience
