At Scatec, you get to work on something that matters. We develop, build, own, and operate renewable energy solutions that accelerate access to reliable and affordable clean energy. As part of a global and agile organisation, you will work with skilled colleagues across functions and geographies, take real ownership, and contribute to a company driven by the vision of improving our future. At the heart of everything we do is our belief that we bring the energy - the energy for change, connection, and growth. It shapes how we collaborate, innovate, and create impact together. If you are looking for a role where your contribution is visible, your development matters, and your work supports a more sustainable future, Scatec may be the right place for you.

Why this role matters

This role provides technical leadership and coordination for biodiversity risk management at the Shadwan Wind project, while also supporting other Scatec projects in Egypt. You will help project teams identify, assess, and manage biodiversity risks and impacts, and ensure biodiversity commitments are implemented through the ESMS, ESMPs, Biodiversity Management Plans, Biodiversity Action Plans, and lender action plans.

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will:

  • Coordinate biodiversity risk assessment, monitoring, and performance management in line with project ESMS, lender, and regulatory requirements.
  • Track biodiversity commitments, actions, and performance indicators, and support management, lender, and external reporting.
  • Provide biodiversity technical support across project development, permitting, ESIA, financing, construction, and operations.
  • Review biodiversity assessments and advise project teams on risks, adequacy, mitigation, and implementation requirements.
  • Lead or coordinate Biodiversity Management Plans, Biodiversity Action Plans, lender commitments, mitigation measures, offsets, and restoration actions.
  • Oversee interfaces with biodiversity consultants, specialists, monitoring providers, lenders, advisors, contractors, and project teams.
  • Support construction and operational biodiversity measures, including ecological supervision, habitat and species protection, migratory bird monitoring, turbine management, shutdown-on-demand, fatality monitoring, and Bird Flight Diverters.
  • Review monitoring performance, recommend adaptive management or corrective actions, support audits and reporting, and build internal biodiversity capability across Scatec projects.

Your work will support real decisions, real assets, and real operational outcomes.

What you’ll gain

  • Professional growth through ownership, exposure, and meaningful contribution from day one.
  • Hands-on experience in a role where the challenge is energising, fast-moving, meaningful, and built on learning through doing.
  • The opportunity to shape biodiversity management on a significant wind project and contribute to renewable energy projects across Egypt.
  • Exposure to international biodiversity standards, lender requirements, cross-functional project teams, and specialist technical advisors.

What you’ll bring

Experience and qualifications

  • University degree in ecology, zoology, biology, environmental science, conservation, natural resource management, or a related discipline.
  • Typically 7+ years of relevant professional experience in biodiversity or ecological management to international standards.
  • Experience in renewable energy, power transmission, or major infrastructure projects, ideally across development, construction, and operations.
  • Strong understanding of biodiversity risk assessment, monitoring, data interpretation, management planning, and adaptive management.
  • Excellent understanding of IFC Performance Standards, EBRD Environmental and Social Requirements, and AfDB Operating Safeguards, particularly biodiversity-related requirements.
  • Experience with critical habitat, priority biodiversity features, cumulative effects, collision risk, fatality monitoring, and wind energy projects is strongly preferred.
  • Fluent written and spoken English; Arabic is desirable.
  • Clear communicator who can work effectively with project teams, contractors, consultants, lenders, advisors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Proactive, structured, collaborative, and able to prioritise independently while supporting high-quality biodiversity outcomes.
