Position Summary:

The Disability Management Specialist plays a key role in supporting employees through occupational and non-occupational disability leaves, with a focus on stay-at-work and return-to-work programs, claims coordination, and workplace accommodations. This role collaborates with employees, managers, insurers, healthcare providers, and benefits partners to ensure a supportive, timely, and compliant disability management experience.

This position requires fluency in both English and French to support employees and managers across CAPREIT with a strong focus on the QC portfolio.

 

This is a 1-year, part-time, contract position with a minimum requirement of 24 hours per week.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Disability Case Management & Claims Administration

  • Assist in management of disability cases, maintain documentation, and ensure proactive follow-up.
  • Liaise with insurers, submit documentation, and track claim outcomes.
  • Maintain case files, prepare reports, and identify trends.
  • Provide clear guidance to employees and managers on leave processes, documentation requirements, and Return-to-Work expectations.

Return-to-Work & Stay-at-Work Support

  • Assist with implementation of Return-to-Work plans, coordinate modified duties, and monitor progress.
  • Identify early intervention opportunities for stay-at-work strategies and recommend workplace adjustments.
  • Facilitate medical and non-medical accommodations and support managers in implementation.

Benefits Administration & Employee Support

  • Provide guidance on benefit entitlements related to disability leaves (STD, LTD, CNESST), assist employees in navigating benefit processes, and coordinate with benefits providers to ensure accurate and timely information.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding extended health, dental, vision, paramedical coverage, life and AD&D insurance, and other benefit programs; help employees understand coverage details, eligibility, claim submission processes, and provider requirements; escalate complex issues to the benefits team or provider as needed.

Stakeholder Communication & Service Delivery

  • Provide services and communication in both English and French.

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of Quebec legislation, including CNESST processes, provincial human rights requirements, and applicable privacy obligations.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to support employees experiencing health-related challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Rehabilitation, Occupational Health, or related field.
  • 3 years of experience in disability management, benefits administration, or claims coordination.
  • Proficiency with case management systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Fluency in English and French (spoken and written) required.

 

Compensation & Work Arrangement:

  • Competitive Hourly Rate: $33.00-$39.00 per hour.
  • Hybrid Work Model.
