About the Behavioral Intervention Program

The Behavioral Intervention (BI) Program provides intensive, trauma-informed, in-home services to children and teens experiencing significant behavioral and emotional challenges, many of whom have experienced trauma, abuse, or neglect. Our Behavioral Interventionists (BIs) work one-on-one with children and their caregivers to build emotional regulation, strengthen relationships, improve daily living skills, and promote long-term family stability through engaging, relationship-based interventions.


Job Summary

The BI Program Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and quality of program operations in the Wichita and Hutchinson, Kansas, areas. This includes direct supervision and development of staff, program planning and implementation, case consultation, quality assurance, performance improvement, and ensuring services are delivered consistently with agency values, program requirements, and applicable standards.

The PM has a direct impact on the quality and stability of services provided to children and families. By supporting strong staff teams, strengthening program systems, and ensuring consistent quality of care, this role helps create the conditions for children and youth to remain safely connected to their homes, families, and communities.

The ideal candidate is an experienced, thoughtful, and strategic leader who understands the complexities of child welfare and behavioral health services. This individual will foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, professional growth, and compassion while supporting staff in delivering high-quality, trauma-informed services to children and families.

What You Will Do

As the BI Program Manager, you will provide leadership and oversight to the BI program and staff serving the Wichita and Hutchinson areas. You will supervise and support Coordinators through regular individual supervision, case consultation, performance feedback, and ongoing professional development. You will monitor staff workloads, promote employee and team satisfaction, and ensure staff have the resources and guidance needed to be successful in their roles.

Working closely with the Regional Director of the, you will monitor client referrals and waitlists, helping ensure children and families are matched with appropriate staff and that staffing needs are anticipated and addressed. You will oversee program timelines and processes, including referral assignments, initial assessments, service renewals, updates, progress notes, and incident reporting. You will also ensure critical incidents are appropriately reported, followed up on, and communicated to leadership within required timeframes.

The BI Program Manager plays an important role in maintaining the quality and effectiveness of BI services. You will lead continuous quality improvement efforts focused on strengthening program systems, improving processes, and supporting staff development.

By regularly reviewing file and shift note audit results, client documentation, and incident reports, you will ensure services meet program and regulatory expectations. You will identify areas for improvement, address barriers, and collaborate with branch offices and agency leadership to implement effective solutions.


What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of professional experience, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to supporting children and families. Qualifications include:

  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, behavioral health, or a related human services field, along with at least two years of experience in a nonprofit social service setting and at least two years of supervisory experience.
  • A strong understanding of child welfare practices, policies, and the unique needs of children and families involved in foster care, adoption, or other child-serving systems.
  • A demonstrated commitment to supporting and advocating for foster and adoptive families.
  • Strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.
  • A collaborative leadership style and the skills to advocate for positive outcomes while working effectively with diverse professional teams and community partners.
  • Experience supporting individuals and communities who have experienced marginalization, along with an understanding of how systemic barriers can impact children, youth, and families.
  • Willingness to travel to surrounding counties to attend meetings, trainings, and presentations, with or without reasonable accommodation.
