About this role

Overview

BRMi is seeking an experienced Senior Automation Engineer to implement, maintain, and support distributed intake channels, web services, and an enterprise orchestration platform. This role partners with technology teams across the organization to identify automation opportunities, reengineer processes, develop web applications and workflow services, and improve the reliability and efficiency of repeatable technology operations.

The position requires experience designing, developing, testing, and maintaining reusable automations using orchestration platforms, web technologies, APIs, and multiple programming and scripting languages. The ideal candidate will be able to understand complex cross-technology environments and translate technical concepts and automation opportunities into solutions that meet business and operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with technology teams to identify automation opportunities and reengineer processes as teams onboard to orchestration platforms or migrate to web applications.
  • Design, develop, test, implement, maintain, and support reusable automations, web applications, and workflow services.
  • Design and implement highly available automation solutions using enterprise orchestration platforms, preferably Micro Focus Operations Orchestration.
  • Develop automation solutions that integrate with server, storage, database, network, and other enterprise technologies.
  • Lead efforts to automate and orchestrate repeatable technology administration tasks.
  • Enhance existing automation solutions to improve reliability, maintainability, and reusability.
  • Establish standardized invocation channels for initiating orchestrated services while supporting traceability and reporting.
  • Support continuous process improvement by evaluating existing processes and identifying opportunities for automation and optimization.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and industry practices that may enhance orchestration and automation capabilities.
  • Develop and maintain web applications and services using PHP, .NET, web services, APIs, and other applicable technologies.
  • Promote adoption and effective use of web applications and orchestration capabilities across technology teams.
  • Analyze technical requirements and translate complex cross-discipline and cross-technology concepts into effective automation solutions.
  • Provide technical consulting and guidance to internal technology teams and stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including system and process diagrams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 10+ years of relevant technology experience preferred; qualified candidates with less experience may be considered.
  • Experience designing, developing, testing, and supporting enterprise automation and orchestration solutions.
  • Experience with enterprise orchestration platforms; Micro Focus Operations Orchestration experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience developing and testing web applications.
  • Strong knowledge of front-end technologies, including JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented PHP programming.
  • Experience with programming and scripting technologies such as Python, PHP, Java, PowerShell/PowerCLI, Perl, VBScript, Windows batch scripting, web services, or web APIs.
  • Experience working with Windows and Linux/Unix platforms.
  • Experience with database technologies such as Oracle, DB2, and SQL Server.
  • Experience performing data analysis.
  • Experience working with web services and APIs.
  • Understanding of server, storage, database, and network technologies and their role within enterprise automation solutions.
  • Ability to identify automation opportunities and apply technical information to develop appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to explain complex technical processes and solutions in terms that business and technical stakeholders can understand.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple technology teams and disciplines.
