About this role

Overview

Join our team and play a vital role in helping patients receive the diagnostic imaging services they need. As an Authorization Specialist, you will serve as a key liaison between patients, providers, and insurance companies to ensure timely approval of important imaging procedures such as MRIs, CT scans, and ultrasounds.

 

In this position, you'll use your attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of insurance processes to navigate prior authorizations, coordinate with healthcare providers, and help remove barriers to patient care. Your work directly supports a smooth patient experience while ensuring the clinic can provide timely, high-quality diagnostic services.

Responsibilities: 

  • Manage the authorization phase of Radiology patient encounter, verify with insurance via phone or online if pre-authorization is required for Radiology diagnostic testing. This duty is performed daily, about 50% of the time.
  • Able to use information provided in EMR system to complete the clinical information requirements for authorization. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.
  • Works closely with referring physician office when an authorization request requires more detailed clinical information to support the required procedure. This duty is performed daily, about 10% of the time.
  • The Authorization Specialist will make requests for peer to peer reviews as necessary to obtain authorizations and approvals on testing.

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 12 – 18 months related experience and/or training
