A Brief Overview
Performs essential tasks in the Center for Childhood Communication (CCC) in support of patient care under the training, direction and supervision of licensed audiologists and speech-language pathologists.

What you will do

  • Patient Care Support
  • Assists clinicians by focusing and directing patients, as needed, during audiologic and speech-language procedures
  • Supports patient care through the preparation of speech/language/swallowing assessment and treatment materials (e.g., mixes barium products, creates picture communication boards, programs augmentative communication devices, compiles theme-based activity kits, etc.)
  • Participates in patient safety (i.e., Code Safe) calls and debriefing
  • Assists audiologists with screening the hearing of newborns and infants under six months of age, as needed
  • Equipment Support
  • Routinely inspects and performs biological checks of clinical equipment
  • Troubleshoots and makes minor repairs of clinical equipment, or arranges for inspection by Biomedical Engineering, or repair by equipment vendors, as needed
  • Arranges for and supports external annual clinical equipment calibration
  • Processes/inventories new or replacement clinical equipment. Ensures inventory and Biomedical Engineering labeling.
  • Performs electroacoustic analyses of stock and loaner hearing technology, as well as those presented for repair by patients
  • Charges and changes out batteries for clinical demonstration (e.g., augmentative and alternative communication devices, hearing technology, etc.) devices and electronic therapy supplies
  • Reprograms repaired devices to prescribed settings and returns to patients
  • Maintains loaner device libraries, including distribution and retrieval of equipment, monitors demand, completes loaner agreements with families and initiates billing, when indicated
  • Environment of Care Support
  • Performs daily clinic opening and closing procedures
  • Serves as liaison for the CCC during Environment of Care rounding
  • Performs daily infection control procedures
  • Submits Facilities and Environmental Services requests for clinical areas
  • Conducts weekly regulatory readiness surveys in clinical areas, and submits results via RedCap survey to the Regulatory and Accreditation Team
  • Monitors and replenishes supplies in clinical areas
  • Administrative Support
  • Orders devices for patient purchase or loan according to clinical staff instructions, working with families to determine preferences for appropriate and available options
  • Completes repair and return-for-credit forms for patient devices, packages devices and makes arrangements for shipping
  • Performs printing, scanning and laminating, as needed
  • Transports patients between therapy sessions, as needed

Education Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree - Required
  • Bachelor's Degree - Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • Work experience in healthcare- or child development-related fields - Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills (Required proficiency)
  • Intermediate proficiency with MS Office 365 products (Required proficiency)
  • Self-starter, motivated, organized, and independent. Completes tasks with minimal oversight. (Required proficiency)

SALARY RANGE:

$19.15 - $23.95 Hourly
