Job Description: Project Manager – Green Hydrogen & Ammonia

Role Overview

The Project Manager will lead end-to-end execution of green hydrogen and ammonia projects, from concept development through FEED, EPC/EPCM, commissioning, and operations support. The role requires strong techno-commercial expertise in hydrogen electrolysis, ammonia synthesis, storage/export systems, and integrated energy projects, ensuring delivery aligned with cost, schedule, and quality objectives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Planning & Execution

  • Lead full project lifecycle: concept selection, feasibility studies, FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Develop and manage integrated project schedules, cost estimates (Class II), and execution strategies.
  • Ensure alignment of project scope with business case, stakeholders, and investment approvals.

2. Green Hydrogen & Ammonia Technology Management

  • Manage projects involving:
    • Hydrogen production via electrolysis
    • Green ammonia synthesis and storage systems
    • Hydrogen liquefaction, compression, and export/import systems
  • Oversee integration of upstream (electrolysis) with downstream (ammonia, storage, transport).
  • Support design and execution of:

3. Stakeholder & Interface Management

  • Act as the primary interface with clients, licensors, EPC contractors, JV partners, and internal leadership.

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams across process, mechanical, civil, and instrumentation disciplines. [AMITPARLIKAR (1) (1) | Word]

4. Engineering & Technical Oversight

  • Supervise development of:
    • Process design packages (PFDs, P&IDs, HMBs)
    • Equipment datasheets and technical specifications

  • Ensure optimal process efficiency, energy integration, and sustainability performance.
  • Review and approve EPC deliverables in line with international standards. [AMITPARLIKAR (1) (1) | Word]

5. Commercial & Proposal Management

  • Lead techno-commercial evaluations for large-scale projects (up to billion-dollar investments). [AMITPARLIKAR (1) (1) | Word]
  • Manage:
  • Drive proposal development for hydrogen and ammonia value chain opportunities.

6. Risk, Safety & Compliance

  • Lead risk assessments including:
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • Environmental and safety standards
    • International codes and client specifications
  • Maintain project risk registers and mitigation strategies.

7. Construction & Commissioning Oversight

  • Coordinate site execution and interface with contractors during project delivery.
  • Support commissioning activities for:
    • Hydrogen plants
    • Ammonia units
    • Storage and export systems
  • Ensure readiness for operations and handover.

8. Team Leadership & Capability Building

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (Master’s preferred). [AMITPARLIKAR (1) (1) | Word]
  • 15–25+ years of experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or clean energy sectors.
  • Proven experience in EPC/EPCM/PMC project execution.

Preferred Experience

  • Direct involvement in:
    • Green Hydrogen projects (electrolysis-based)
    • Ammonia synthesis / storage / export projects
