Job Description Summary:

The Radiation Oncology Associate Professor will treat cancer and other diseases using targeted high-energy radiation therapy.

Job Description:

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate patients to determine if radiation is appropriate, review imaging/lab data, and determine the tumor stage.

  • Perform physical examinations, review medical histories, and interpret diagnostic tests (like CT, MRI, PET scans) to determine if a patient is a candidate for radiation therapy.

  • Treatment planning using sophisticated software to design personalized treatment plans.

  • Use advanced software to plan dosage, angle and techniques (e.g. IGRT, IMRT, proton therapy, etc.)

  • Oversee the safe delivery of treatment by radiation therapists, dosimetrists, and physicists.

  • Manage side effects and monitor patient progress during and after treatment, often working closely with medical oncologists and surgeons.

  • Participate in clinical research and guide complex care teams.

  • Collaborate to assure integrated care.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Doctor of Medicine

Work Experience:

  • 2 years of Radiation Oncology experience

  • Experience in in treating cancer and benign diseases i.e. design, prescribe and oversee tailored treatment plans.

This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position.ย  The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements, institutional standards of academic and professional excellence, alignment with peer institution benchmarks, and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education: Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine

Work Experience:

  • 5 years of Radiation Oncology experience
