Associate Principal - System Management

We are looking for an experienced SAP Archiving Consultant with 12-16 years of handson experience in SAP Data Archiving Information Lifecycle Management Data Volume Management and archiving strategy design

The consultant will be responsible for assessing data growth identifying archiving opportunities designing archiving solutions implementing standard and custom archiving objects and supporting business and technical teams through endtoend archiving project delivery

Key Responsibilities

Lead SAP data archiving assessments by analyzing database growth top tables business data retention needs and archiving feasibility

Design and implement SAP standard archiving objects across functional areas such as FI CO SD MM PP PM QM HR and Basisrelated objects

Perform tabletoarchiving object mapping using SAP tools such as DB15 TAANA DB02 SARA SARI AOBJ and related transactions

Define archiving strategy retention rules residence periods writedeleteread programs storage approach and retrieval requirements

Configure and execute SAP archiving cycles including preprocessing write delete storage postprocessing and reporting activities

Work with business stakeholders to validate archived data access audit requirements legal retention needs and compliance expectations

Support custom archiving object design for Z tables using AOBJ ADK framework custom writedelete programs and technical specifications

Coordinate with BASIS infrastructure functional security and storage teams for smooth archiving implementation and operations

Prepare archiving project deliverables such as assessment reports strategy documents technical design documents test plans cutover plans SOPs and status reports

Provide production support for archiving jobs performance issues failed sessions incomplete delete runs archive file handling and retrievalrelated issues

Required Skills and Experience

8 years of overall SAP experience with strong focus on SAP Data Archiving and Data Volume Management

Strong handson experience with SAP archiving transactions such as SARA DB15 TAANA DB02 SARI AOBJ SARE and related tools

Good understanding of SAP ADKbased archiving framework archive object configuration archive information structures and archived data retrieval

Experience in SAP ILM concepts including retention management residence rules legal hold ILM policies and ILMenabled archiving scenarios

Knowledge of ArchiveLink content repositories external storage systems and integration with storage platforms such as OpenText Content Server or similar solutions

Experience in identifying highvolume tables and recommending archiving objects based on HANA sizing reports EarlyWatch reports DB growth analysis or system performance reports

Ability to work with functional teams to understand business process dependencies before archiving transactional and master data

Experience in archiving projects for SAP ECC andor SAP S4HANA environments including migration readiness and data footprint reduction initiatives

Strong troubleshooting skills for archiving job failures authorization issues file handling issues storage failures and data retrieval problems

Good documentation communication stakeholder management and clientfacing consulting skills

Basic BASIS Experience

Basic understanding of SAP BASIS administration activities relevant to archiving including background job monitoring checking dumps and system connectivity checks

Ability to coordinate with BASIS teams for RFC connections logical file path configuration archive file directory setup content repository configuration and storage integration

Working knowledge of transactions such as SM37 SM36 SM50 SM66 ST22 SM21 SICF OAC0 OAC2 OAC3 and related monitoring tools

Understanding of SAP authorizations required for archiving execution retrieval content repository access and job scheduling

Awareness of system performance considerations during archiving runs including job scheduling windows parallel processing delete program execution and database impact

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with SAP S4HANA data footprint reduction moving of archived data from one storage to another

Exposure to SAP ILM Store OpenText Archive Center SAP Content Server PBS solutions or other thirdparty archiving and retrieval tools

Experience in preparing clientfacing archiving assessments business case documents effort estimates and implementation roadmaps

Ability to lead workshops with business functional technical compliance audit and infrastructure teams

SAP certification or relevant experience in SAP BASIS SAP ILM SAP S4HANA or data management will be an added advantage
