This position is part of the ADGT Global Failure Analysis organization, a critical function that supports Analog Devices' internal and external customers in resolving product quality and reliability issues. The Failure Analysis Associate Engineer is responsible for understanding reported failure modes and performing failure analysis activities on returned devices and engineering samples to determine failure mechanisms and provide technical evidence to support root cause investigations.

This role offers opportunities to develop expertise in semiconductor devices, circuit analysis, electrical characterization, and advanced failure analysis techniques while contributing to continuous improvement and knowledge-sharing initiatives within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform failure analysis on customer returns, reliability failures, qualification failures, and internal engineering requests.
  • Verify and characterize electrical failures through bench testing, characterization, and data analysis.
  • Apply appropriate failure analysis techniques to verify failure modes, identify failure mechanisms, and support root cause investigations.
  • Generate clear, concise, and technically accurate failure analysis reports.
  • Communicate findings effectively to quality engineers, product engineers, design engineers, manufacturing teams, and customers.
  • Support product quality, reliability, manufacturing, and design improvement activities.
  • Contribute to departmental continuous improvement, process enhancement, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Help ADI meet customer expectations for failure analysis quality, responsiveness, and cycle-time commitments.

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Engineering (ECE) or Electrical Engineering (EE)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to read and interpret circuit schematics.
  • Fundamental understanding of semiconductor devices, analog and digital circuits, circuit analysis, and electronic troubleshooting.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to interpret datasheet specifications and translate them into practical bench-test setups.
  • Familiarity with electronic test and measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, and function generators.
  • Strong interest in circuit analysis, electrical fault isolation, and root cause investigation.
  • Demonstrates initiative, curiosity, and a continuous improvement mindset.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of programming using Python, LabVIEW, or other engineering software tools.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing, assembly, or test processes.
  • Experience with data analysis, automation, or scripting tools.
  • Exposure to semiconductor failure analysis techniques and equipment such as microscopy, X-ray, SEM, FIB, or fault isolation methods is an advantage.
