About This Role:

The Senior Manager/Associate Director of U.S. Field Medical Excellence will lead the planning and implementation of programs that drive excellence in scientific engagement, field execution, insight generation, and core Medical Affairs competencies across the U.S. Field Medical organization. This role partners closely with U.S. Medical Affairs Leadership, Compliance, and Global Medical Affairs to ensure MSLs and field medical teams are equipped with the skills, behaviors, and capabilities needed to maximize customer impact and organizational effectiveness.

What You’ll Do:

Field Excellence & Capability Development

Support the development and execution of the U.S. Field Medical strategy aligned with GMA strategy, U.S. Medical Affairs strategy, and organizational priorities

  • In partnership with Head of U.S. Field Medical, establish capability development programs that strengthen:
    • Scientific exchange excellence
    • Stakeholder engagement
    • Insight generation and communication
    • Strategic account planning
    • KOL engagement
    • Cross-functional collaboration
    • Business and healthcare ecosystem acumen
  • Establish competency frameworks and proficiency standards for MSLs
  • Create individualized and team-based development plans to address capability gaps

Training Program Delivery

  • Partner with Global Medical Training to ensure seamless implementation of Globally-driven clinical, scientific, and skills-based trainings
  • Facilitate and manage onboarding and new-hire training for new U.S. MSLs
  • Develop workshops, simulations, role plays, and coaching tools focused on field execution in alignment with U.S. Medical leadership and Global Medical offerings
  • Develop certification and readiness programs for the U.S. MSLs
  • Ensure training content is practical, engaging, and directly applicable to customer-facing activities in the U.S. market
  • Develop U.S.-specific training for the MSLs in response to team and market needs
  • Reinforce scientific learning through practical field application and execution training

Insight Generation & Strategic Field Skills

  • In collaboration with U.S. Medical Affairs leadership, ensure MSL are trained on best practices for:
    • Collecting actionable insights
    • Differentiating observations from insights
    • Translating field intelligence into strategic recommendations
    • Communicating insights effectively to cross-functional stakeholders
  • Enhance field team capabilities in strategic thinking and enterprise mindset development

Performance Enablement

  • Partner with the head of U.S. Field Medical to assess team capability needs and performance trends
  • Support head of U.S. Field Medical with coaching tools, feedback frameworks, and development resources
  • Partner with U.S. leadership to establish appropriate metrics and dashboards track MSL team performance against plan
  • Implement best-practice sharing across team

Field Effectiveness & Continuous Improvement

  • Establish metrics and dashboards to evaluate training effectiveness and competency progression
  • Analyze field performance trends, survey feedback, coaching observations, and capability assessments
  • Recommend and implement improvements to training programs based on business needs and learner outcomes
  • Maintain learning curricula that evolve with changing medical, customer, and organizational priorities

Who You Are:
Qualifications & Experience

  • Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, NP, PA, or other relevant scientific/healthcare degree).
  • 5+ years of overall Medical Affairs experience; preference for experience as an MSL or MSL Manager
  • Demonstrated success developing and delivering learning programs
  • Strong understanding of U.S. Medical Affairs and Field Medical operations, including Veeva CRM
  • Excellent facilitation, coaching, and presentation skills
  • Ability to influence across a matrixed organization


Additional Information:
 

The base compensation range for this role is $188,000 - $222,000. Compensation is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
