About this role

Job Purpose
This role exists to develop, maintain, optimize, and support enterprise database solutions primarily on SQL Server and PostgreSQL platforms while contributing to database reliability, performance, security, and scalability. The role supports business-critical applications and assists in delivering high-quality data solutions that enable organizational growth and digital transformation.
Duties and Responsibilities
Major Activities carried out by the role

1. Major Activity 1
• Develop and maintain database objects including Stored Procedures, Functions, Views, Triggers, and Scripts in SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
• Create efficient database objects based on application and business requirements.
• Support application teams in database design and query development.
• Participate in database deployment activities across Development, UAT, and Production environments.
• Ensure adherence to coding standards and database development best practices.
2. Major Activity 2
• Monitor and optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and execution plan analysis.
• Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and production issues.
• Assist in backup, recovery, database maintenance, and housekeeping activities.
• Support database migration and upgrade initiatives.
• Implement database security standards and user access controls.
3. Major Activity 3
• Collaborate with application developers, QA teams, DevOps teams, and architects.
• Maintain technical documentation and database deployment artifacts.
• Provide status updates on assigned tasks and ensure timely delivery.
• Continuously learn emerging database technologies and performance optimization techniques.•
Key Decisions / Dimensions
• Identifying indexing and query optimization strategies.
• Determining database object design approaches to improve scalability and maintainability.
• Recommending performance tuning and database housekeeping measures.
• Deciding troubleshooting and root-cause analysis approaches for database incidents.
• Suggesting automation opportunities for database monitoring and deployments.
Major Challenges
• Managing large transactional databases while maintaining optimal performance.
• Identifying and resolving complex query performance issues within defined SLAs.
• Supporting multiple database environments and ensuring data integrity.
• Balancing operational support activities with project delivery timelines.
• Adapting to evolving technologies and database modernization initiatives
Required Qualifications and Experience
a) Qualifications
b) Strong understanding of Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS).
c) Knowledge of Database Design, Data Modeling, SQL Programming, and Performance Optimization.
d) Understanding of SDLC, Agile methodologies, and DevOps practices.
e) Exposure to cloud database services will be an added advantage.
f) Work Experience
Experience should be between 2 to 3 years
