Assistant Manager - People Generalist - Ports & Terminals - Cochin
About this role
Key responsibilities:
· 1. Contract Labour Management
- Manage the end-to-end administration of contract labour deployed across business operations.
- Ensure compliance with Contract Labour (Regulation & Abolition) Act and other applicable labour legislations.
- Monitor contractor manpower deployment, attendance, documentation, licenses, statutory remittances, and compliance records.
- Conduct periodic audits of contractors for compliance relating to PF, ESI, wages, bonus, leave, and other statutory requirements.
- Maintain contractor employee database and support workforce planning requirements.
- Coordinate with operational departments regarding manpower requirements and contractor performance.
- Support resolution of contractor workmen grievances and labour-related issues.
- Prepare MIS and compliance reports related to contract workforce management.
- Ensure the compliance of DP World’s health, safety and environmental requirements.
2. Employee Engagement & Culture
- Plan and execute employee engagement initiatives aligned with organizational objectives.
- Coordinate employee communication programs, recognition initiatives, festivals, and welfare activities.
- Conduct employee satisfaction and engagement surveys and assist in implementing action plans.
- Drive wellness, diversity, inclusion, and employee wellbeing programs.
- Support leadership interactions, town halls, and employee connect initiatives.
- Monitor engagement metrics and recommend interventions for improving employee morale and retention.
3. Employee Helpdesk & Grievance Management
- Act as the first point of contact for employee HR-related queries and concerns.
- Manage HR helpdesk activities and ensure timely closure of employee requests.
- Handle employee grievances, policy clarifications, and service requests professionally and confidentially.
- Track and analyse employee issue trends and recommend process improvements.
- Ensure seamless employee experience across all HR touchpoints.
4. HRIS & Data Management
- Maintain accurate employee data in HRMS/HRIS platforms.
- Ensure timely updates related to onboarding, transfers, promotions, salary revisions, and separations.
- Generate regular HR dashboards, reports, and analytics for management review.
- Monitor data quality and perform periodic audits to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Support system enhancements, process automation, and digital HR initiatives.
- Coordinate with corporate HR, payroll teams, and system administrators on HRIS matters.
5. Employee Life Cycle Management
- Manage onboarding and induction processes for new employees.
- Facilitate confirmation, transfers, promotions, and separation processes.
- Ensure timely completion of employee documentation and record management.
- Coordinate exit interviews and employee retention initiatives.
- Support workforce planning and manpower reporting requirements.
6. Statutory Compliance & HR Operations
- Ensure compliance with applicable labour laws, company policies, and internal procedures.
- Maintain statutory records and documentation as per legal requirements.
- Support internal and external audits and ensure timely closure of audit observations.
- Coordinate with government authorities, contractors, and internal stakeholders on compliance matters.
- Assist in implementation and communication of organizational HR policies.
7. Learning & Development Support
- Coordinate training schedules, nominations, and training records.
- Track employee training compliance and certification requirements.
- Support implementation of learning and development initiatives across the business unit.
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES :
Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in human resources management functions preferably in labour intensive industries.
- Graduate with post graduate qualification in Human Resources Management
- Functional knowledge in HC, IR, & Statutory compliance.
- Good interpersonal skills, excellent team building capabilities, planning, co-ordination, and decision-making skill.
- Advanced communication and negotiation skills
- Analytical thinking & strategic decision making
- Language proficiency in English, Malayalam mandatory and additional working proficiency in Tamil and Hindi would be preferred.
