Job Description

We have 14 summer jobs available for people eager to work outdoors on farms assessing plant crops from 9 November 2026 until 16 January 2027.

You will complete field inspections of seed crops prior to harvest, to ensure they meet NZ Seed Certification Scheme requirements.

The roles will be based in  Ashburton, Timaru, Lincoln and Christchurch.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Seed Certification crop inspections in accordance with MPI specifications for the NZ Seed Certification Scheme.
  • Conduct inspections in accordance with AsureQuality's documented procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with farmers.
  • Work individually or in teams of 2 where required.
  • Follow health & safety requirements.
  • Drive a work vehicle to commute to customer farms.
  • You will work under the supervision of experienced AsureQuality team members until you gain approval to carry out inspections independently.

    Qualifications

    The right fit people for these roles will have:

    • Prior arable / on-farm work experience.
    • Completed at least two agriculture tertiary papers.
    • A full driver's licence.
    • Can-do attitude and ability to work well in a team while under pressure.
    • High attention to detail, excellent customer service and great written and verbal communication skills.
    • Flexibility to 40 hours per week. Hours can vary due to weather conditions.

    • Pay rate of $31.10 per hour.
    • Ability to use a tool of trade vehicle.
    • Enjoy working outdoors during the sunny summer weather.
    • Fixed term contract for 2 months, min 20 hours pw and max 50 hours pw (Monday - Friday) expectation is 40 hrs a week, weather depending.
