Responsibilities



Assembly 

  • Assemble empty cases and stage for filling with containers
  • Fill cases with bottled product; this often requires lifting multiple bottles off a table and placing them inside a case or into a point-of-purchase box
  • Maintain pace with the overall line speed
  • Cycle routinely between performing one specific work task and another type, as directed
  • Tape cases such that flaps are even and held closed securely
  • Build a stable case pallet load according to the specified stacking pattern
  • Move pallets of product as required with designated equipment
  • Use datecoder machine and check to verify code is legible and accurate
  • Manage collection of production line status into the electronic data collection system
  • Operate labeling machine, handle label rolls, and perform minor labeler adjustments
  • Replenish bottle hoppers
  • Assist with bulk storage container tasks at the fillers
  • Accurately and fully complete all paperwork and tags associated with the position
  • Perform all quality inspections as required



Packaging Assistance

  • Operate filler to fill empty containers with our products
  • Fill containers to the proper fill level
  • Cap containers
  • Perform line preparation tasks, including job changeovers
  • Manage hose system used to transport liquid product from storage containers to fillers
  • Perform tasks on auxiliary equipment, in addition to the main production lines
  • Perform any quality inspections as directed



Good Manufacturing Practices

  • Follow good manufacturing processes, and all standard operating procedures
  • Perform regular quality inspections in all steps of production, and in the production lines to maintain overall product quality, and to minimize rejects
  • Provide damaged goods to manager
  • Review quality concerns with manager
  • Bring equipment problems or needs, safety concerns, or supply needs to manager’s attention
  • Recommend process or equipment improvement opportunities as you see them
  • Maintain and clean equipment appropriately; care must be taken to ensure foreign organisms are not introduced to finished products
  • Properly spot check the production line and the ability to completely fill out Packaging Batch Record forms



Safety & Security

  • Must report to your supervisor any unsafe or hazardous condition.
  • Personal protective equipment (gloves, masks or goggles) must be worn for certain products as mandated by the Safety Data Sheet (such as powders or essential oils).
  • Must lift carefully using legs, and more than 50 pounds should be assisted by another employee
  • Spills must be cleaned up immediately
  • Rotate job post and carry out stretching exercises in order to prevent repetitive stress injury
  • Perform other reasonable tasks and projects as directed by manager



Other Production Projects

  • Case labeling: apply printed case labels to cardboard bottle cases
  • Insert preparation: separate and crease cardboard case inserts
  • Dip tube cutting: insert bottle “pump tops” into a diptube cutter to cut them shorter
  • Tube line packaging: package “tube” products into cases



Skills/Qualifications

  • Ability to get along with others and consistently promote a positive team environment
  • Ability to grasp, bend, walk, lift and move items up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and keep pace with production
  • Ability to take initiative and collaborate with team members
  • Ability to safely operate a manual pallet jack
  • Must be able to obtain Electric pallet jack certification



Education and Experience: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Prior manufacturing experience in GMP environment highly preferred  
  • Fluency in English or Spanish required; bi-lingual language skills in English/Spanish a plus!

GENERAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on a production floor or
warehouse environment. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts
sometimes in high, or precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid
conditions, ambient air, temperature extremes, fumes or airborne particles, traffic, toxic or
caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work
environment is usually moderate, but occasionally high.
