  • Key missions of the position:

Application Engineers act as the primary technical interface for customers, driving application engineering and new product introduction for railway brake systems. They provide reliable, cost-effective solutions to customer requirements, manage technical deliverables, and ensure customer satisfaction across all project stages.

The role also focuses on strong customer collaboration, supporting business growth, and driving continuous improvement in product performance, reliability, and cost

 

Responsibilities

Main responsibilities:

 

  • Drive application engineering for legacy and ongoing brake system projects, including support for new business initiatives, customer engagements, contracts, RFQs, and engineering proposals with cost-effective solutions.

  • Own end-to-end customer deliverables with a First-Time-Right approach, ensuring On-Time Delivery (OTD), requirement traceability, and preparation of technical dossiers and CbC documents.

  • Act as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for customers, including RDSO, coordinating with internal teams and global stakeholders (SISCOs) for seamless communication and project execution.

  • Lead the development of cost-effective brake control systems for Metro, Indian Railways, and other applications, ensuring compliance with performance and customer requirements.

  • Prepare and manage complete engineering documentation including specifications, functional and validation requirements, FMECA, system manuals, and traceability matrices.

  • Perform hands-on design activities and develop engineering proposals using CATIA, AutoCAD tools, PLM and ERP (Oracle) systems

  • Develop and interpret pneumatic/electrical schematics, perform brake performance calculations, and support design validation through gate reviews and system-level testing.

  • Provide hands-on support for testing, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting at field locations.

  • Support spare tenders and ensure effective implementation of engineering changes across the product lifecycle.

  • Lead key initiatives such as SCRI, VAVE, Design-to-Cost (DTC), localization, alternate sourcing, and product sustenance activities.

  • Collaborate with Product Managers and CFTs on TMC, project execution, and cost optimization, while driving cycle time reduction and operational efficiency.

  • Drive continuous improvement using Gemba insights, VAVE, SQA inputs, and field feedback to enhance product performance and reliability.

  • Lead reliability, warranty, and RAMS activities for legacy products through field investigations, MTBO analysis, training, and resolution of field issues.

  • Identify and resolve technical issues with a practical approach while supporting business growth through technical inputs and opportunity identification.
