$63.36 - $88.71 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights

  • Position: Surgical Physician Assistant – Orthopedics
  • Location: Skokie Hospital, Skokie, IL
  • Full Time/Part Time: Full-Time (average of 40 hours/week)
  • Hours:  Monday – Friday. Rotating 4, 10-hour shifts starting as early as 6AM. One weekend Q6 (12hr shift on Sat and Sun) and 1-2 holidays per year required.
  • Required Travel: Rare travel to other NorthShore Hospitals (including Swedish) may be required.

Job Description

Exciting opportunity to join Endeavor Health with the Orthopedic & Spine Institute! Under the direction of the collaborating physician(s), provides care to patients, in the inpatient and operating room settings. First assists to different orthopedic sub-specialties in the operating room. Obtains detailed history and performs physical examinations, orders imaging, lab tests and diagnostic procedures and interprets results.  Instructs patients on the prescribed therapeutic regimen and pre/post operative instructions. Maintains records and writes progress notes on status, treatments and procedures. Follows patients through their course of treatment in the hospital setting. Collaborates with physicians and the health care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies as appropriate. Demonstrates evidence-based practice.  Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of standards of practice in the specialty.  Assesses the learning needs of patients and families across the continuum.  Employs strategies, interventions and teaching to promote, maintain, and improve health. Provide comprehensive health assessments, differential diagnosis, and prescribe treatments under the protocol in the direct management of acute and chronic illness and disease. Works autonomously and in interdisciplinary teams as resources and consultants. Positively contributes to safety outcomes and promoting high quality patient experience. Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of service line goals.  Supports the strategic plan of the organization. Adheres to all Endeavor Health policies and procedures.


Qualifications:

  • License: Physician Assistant (PA) Licensure in the State of IL required; Federal DEA and Illinois Controlled Substance License required

  • Education: Completion of Master’s level program in specialty area
  • Certification: BLS/CPR certification required
  • Experience: One year of Physician Assistant experience preferred. Ortho experience a plus.
