Working Hours: Full-time or Part-time (37.5 hours per week if full-time)
Duration: 3 months

Job Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join the Adult Acute Inpatient team at Denmark Hill on a locum basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled clinician with experience managing adult acute inpatient caseloads. Previous experience working within a Critical Care Unit (CCU) is highly desirable.

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing specialist assessment and intervention for adults with communication and swallowing disorders, supporting patients throughout their acute hospital stay and contributing to positive clinical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Assess, diagnose, and manage adults with communication and swallowing difficulties within an acute inpatient setting.
  • Provide specialist assessment and management for patients within the Critical Care Unit (CCU), where required.
  • Deliver evidence-based Speech and Language Therapy interventions tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support patient care, rehabilitation, and discharge planning.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with HCPC and local trust standards.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to the ongoing development of the service.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
  • HCPC registration.
  • Previous experience working with adult acute inpatient caseloads.
  • Ideally, prior experience working within a Critical Care Unit (CCU).
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and clinical reasoning skills.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
