Description of Work

This position is to support the program staff at the Fayetteville Regional Office which includes the following divisions; Air Quality, Energy, Mineral and Land Resources, Environmental Assistance and Customer Service, Waste Management, Water Resources and the Department of Information Technology Services as necessary to provide the required support to the citizens of North Carolina to ensure the preservation of our environment and natural resources.

This position must adapt to a rapidly changing environment in the regional office due to changes in environmental laws, general statutes, policies, and procedures which affect permitting guidelines and other related processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Providing positive customer service interaction with internal and external customers.

Processing critical and time-sensitive correspondence, processing invoices and contract payments for the division, processing fiscal documents for programs, and compiling reports for program staff and their respective management.

Provide extensive operational, logistical, Inventory, and administrative support to the Fayetteville Regional Office.

Providing team back-up in providing administrative coverage to the front desk and other divisions and programs in the Fayetteville Regional Office.

Recruitment Range: $31,200.00 - $37,595.00

Division of Environmental Assistance & Customer Service

The mission of the Division of Environmental Assistance and Customer Service (DEACS) is to protect and improve North Carolina’s environment and economy through customer focused assistance, greater understanding of environmental permitting and compliance, wider adoption of sustainable practices, increased recycling and reduced waste disposal and reduced impacts from resource consumption.  The goal is to improve quality customer service information and assistance that is both solution and education oriented.  

Regional Office Administration and Operations provide regional support and monitoring of environmental regulations and enforcements to ensure that the natural resources of North Carolina are protected.  These offices are located throughout the state providing services to all 100 counties and 532 incorporated municipalities in various environmental programs depending on the region.  DEQ ‘s divisions and programs are multidisciplinary, interrelated and dynamic. The main purpose of the Environmental Assistance and Customer Service staff at the regional office is to provide operational, logistical and administrative support to the professional and technical staff of the various environmental programs located at each regional office and serve as the front-line customer service representative for all visitors.

Minimum Education and Experience
