Chatham University seeks to fill Adjunct Instructor opportunities in the Department of Sustainability and the Environment of the Falk College of Environment, Leadership, and Management (ELM). Individuals with professional experience and training in the areas of environmental science, food studies, sustainability, sustainable business, urban systems, natural resource management, community planning, sustainable tourism, conservation practice, or environmental management.

Our department of Sustainability and the Environment houses curricula that align with the University’s core values of sustainability, community engagement, and inclusion. Instructors may use a variety of teaching methods to promote student engagement such as experiential learning, group discussion, project work, simulations, case analysis, field trips, guest lectures, multimedia, or other techniques.  Classes may be offered in a traditional, synchronous, or asynchronous manner, depending on the course.

Prior teaching experience is preferred, but not required. 

Position Summary: Adjunct positions will be filled as needed in the Department of Sustainability and the Environment.

We welcome adjunct faculty who bring creativity, enthusiasm for their subject, and a collaborative approach to their teaching and course development.

Primary Responsibilities:
•    Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate level courses in business and environmental disciplines. 
•    Consulting and collaborating with other faculty to align course content with departmental teaching goals and objectives. 
•    Holding office hours and being available to students for additional support and mentorship.
•    Participating in adjunct instructor training sessions.

Required Qualifications:
•    Completion of a master’s degree in a relevant field.

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Completion of a doctoral degree in a relevant field.
•    Candidates with college teaching and mentoring experience.
•    Candidates with professional and/or lived experiences that advance the university’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
