Position Overview
As an Activity Leader, you'll work alongside the Activities Director to develop and deliver recreational and social programming that meets the interests, abilities, and individual needs of our residents.
You'll spend your days getting to know residents, encouraging participation, creating opportunities for social connection, and helping make life at Elderwood engaging and fulfilling.
This role is ideal for someone who can bring energy into a room, build genuine relationships, and adapt activities to make sure everyone has an opportunity to participate.

Responsibilities
What You'll Do
- Assist the Activities Director in planning and implementing recreational and social programs
- Lead engaging activities designed to keep residents active, connected, and mentally stimulated
- Build relationships with residents and learn about their individual interests and preferences
- Approach residents individually to encourage participation in recreational and social activities
- Adapt activities to meet residents' abilities, interests, and needs
- Observe and report residents' responses, participation, and engagement to the Activities Director
- Prepare resident information for use in care planning and documentation
- Complete progress notes and other documentation as assigned
- Help develop and maintain relationships with community resources that enhance the activities program
- Maintain departmental equipment and supply inventory
- Track attendance and participation and prepare required reports
- Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, families, and visitors
- Promote a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment for residents
- Respect resident rights, dignity, privacy, and individual preferences
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
- Minimum 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid New York State driver's license and clean driving record required
- Ability to develop positive relationships with staff, volunteers, residents, families, and visitors
- Ability to create a warm, accepting, and inclusive environment
- Understanding of the rights and needs of residents
- Physical stamina necessary for an active position
- Ability to adapt activities to meet individual resident needs and abilities
- This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
