Job Purpose

Record, report and manage the company's finances by providing operational accounting support, ensuring accuracy and timeliness across all transactional activities, and contributing to the smooth operation of the Finance department.



Main Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Reconcile invoices received with departmental billings.
  • Issue invoices/credit notes to customers based on services rendered and/or goods sold.
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliation.
  • Own correspondence with vendors.
  • Prepare and track payments, ensuring timely execution.
  • Review employee expenses and process reimbursements in line with company policy.
  • Track expenses as they relate to specific projects and jobs, ensuring correct allocation.
  • Validate invoices against items or services received.
  • Check all financial transactions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance before posting.
  • Enter key data into the company's accounting system (Microsoft Business Central).
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and analysis.
  • Assist with the month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the company's products and services.
  • Maintain excellent communication and cooperate effectively with other departments.
  • Operate with proficiency in the company's electronic systems and databases.
  • Stay current with relevant industry regulations and accounting practices.

 

 

Qualifications & Skills

 

  • Hold a Degree in Finance, Accounting or demonstrate adequate experience in a similar position.
  • 3+ years of experience in Accounting.
  • Demonstrate excellent knowledge of the English language (written and spoken).
  • Possess good communication skills (written and oral).
  • Exhibit high computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic VAT principles.
  • Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Adapt to juggle a range of different tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Maintain strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrate honesty, reliability, and a high degree of professional ethics and integrity.
  • Apply a keen eye for detail and a results-driven approach.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of bookkeeping practices, accounting terminology, and relevant legislation.
  • Possess mathematical skills and the ability to detect inconsistencies.
  • Prioritise workload effectively and work collaboratively across departmental functions.
  • Benefit from experience in the shipping/maritime industry (considered an advantage).
  • Benefit from knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV / Business Central (considered an advantage).
