About the Role
At Pavago, one of our clients is hiring a hands-on Accounting Manager to own financial reporting, month-end close, payroll, and core accounting operations across complex, multi-entity client accounts.
This is not a basic bookkeeping or supervisory-only role. You’ll be directly responsible for maintaining accurate GAAP-compliant financials, clean books, reliable reporting, and scalable accounting processes.
You’ll work across multiple entities while managing close cycles, payroll, AP/AR, reconciliations, sales tax, reporting, and compliance.

What You’ll Own
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
- Execute month-end and year-end close accurately and on schedule
- Prepare and review:
- Balance Sheets
- Income Statements / P&Ls
- Supporting schedules
- Account reconciliations
- Maintain clean, organized, and audit-ready workpapers
- Ensure financial reporting complies with U.S. GAAP
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies before close
- Maintain reporting consistency across multiple entities
Multi-Entity Accounting & General Ledger
- Maintain accurate general ledgers across multiple entities, locations, or business segments
- Manage intercompany accounting and reconciliations where applicable
- Review account classifications and journal entries
- Ensure transactions are recorded accurately under accrual accounting principles
- Maintain clean books and resolve accounting issues proactively
Payroll & Employee Setup
- Process payroll using Gusto or similar payroll platforms
- Set up and maintain employee information within payroll systems
- Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time
- Maintain payroll documentation and records
- Support compliance with applicable U.S. payroll requirements
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies
Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including:
- Accounts Payable (AP)
- Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Vendor payments
- Customer receivables
- Account reconciliations
- General ledger activity
Ensure accounting records remain accurate, current, and properly documented.
Sales Tax & Compliance
- Calculate and file U.S. state sales tax
- Track filing deadlines across applicable jurisdictions
- Maintain supporting documentation for tax filings
- Ensure filings are completed accurately and on time
- Support broader federal and state accounting compliance requirements
Reporting, Budgeting & Forecasting
- Build customized financial and management reports
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes
- Analyze financial results and identify discrepancies or trends
- Provide leadership with clear, actionable financial insights
- Help improve visibility into financial performance across entities
Process Improvement & Documentation
- Review existing accounting workflows and controls
- Identify inefficiencies, risks, and opportunities for improvement
- Create and maintain accounting SOPs
- Standardize processes across clients and entities
- Build scalable, repeatable accounting workflows
- Improve reporting accuracy and operational efficiency
Client & Leadership Coordination
- Communicate clearly with leadership regarding financial priorities, deadlines, and issues
- Support client-facing accounting discussions when required
- Align with stakeholders on reporting expectations and timelines
- Explain financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
- Escalate accounting or compliance risks proactively

Required Experience & Skills
Non-Negotiables
- 5+ years of accounting or finance experience
- Strong hands-on experience with accrual accounting and U.S. GAAP
- Experience managing:
- Multi-entity businesses
- Multi-location businesses
- Multi-segment accounting environments
- Strong proficiency with:
- QuickBooks Online
- QuickBooks Desktop and/or Enterprise
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including:
- XLOOKUP
- INDEX/MATCH
- Pivot Tables
- Data Tables
- Payroll processing experience using Gusto or similar systems
- Experience calculating and filing U.S. state sales tax
- Strong account reconciliation and general ledger skills
- Excellent written and verbal English communication
- Strong attention to detail and organizational ability
- Ability to work independently during U.S. business hours
