About this role

Accessibility Manager is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and delivery of accessibility services across digital products and content. This role ensures that all deliverables comply with global accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.2 AA, Section 508, EPUB Accessibility, and PDF/UA. The Accessibility Manager will lead a team of accessibility specialists, coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders, manage project delivery, and drive continuous improvements in accessibility processes, quality, and automation.

Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Accessibility Specialists, Accessibility Testers, and Accessibility QA Engineers.
  • Allocate resources and manage workload to meet project timelines.
  • Conduct performance reviews, coaching sessions, and career development planning.
  • Identify training needs and build accessibility competency across the team.
  • Foster a culture of quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Project Management
  • Plan and manage accessibility projects from initiation through delivery.
  • Estimate effort, define schedules, and monitor project progress.
  • Manage risks, dependencies, and project escalations.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with high quality.
  • Coordinate multiple concurrent accessibility initiatives.

Accessibility Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • WCAG 2.2 AA
    • Section 508
    • ADA
    • EN 301 549
    • EPUB Accessibility 1.1
    • PDF/UA
    • WAI-ARIA Authoring Practices
  • Interpret accessibility requirements and translate them into actionable implementation plans.
  • Review accessibility reports and approve remediation strategies.

Accessibility Reviews & Testing
  • Oversee manual and automated accessibility testing.
  • Review accessibility defects and prioritize remediation.
  • Validate fixes before project closure.
  • Ensure proper documentation of accessibility findings.
  • Conduct periodic quality audits.

Technical Collaboration
  • Work closely with UX Designers, Developers, Content Teams, and QA teams.
  • Provide accessibility guidance during design and development.
  • Review design systems and reusable components for accessibility compliance.
  • Support engineering teams in implementing accessible solutions.

Digital Content Accessibility
Ensure accessibility compliance for:
  • Websites
  • Responsive HTML
  • Mobile applications
  • EPUB
  • Accessible PDFs
  • Interactive learning content
  • Multimedia
  • Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Educational publishing content

Process Improvement
  • Develop and maintain accessibility workflows, SOPs, and best practices.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and productivity improvements.
  • Improve accessibility review efficiency.
  • Standardize accessibility documentation and reporting.

Stakeholder Management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for accessibility-related matters.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and compliance metrics.
  • Participate in customer meetings and accessibility consultations.
  • Support sales and pre-sales teams with accessibility expertise.

Reporting & Metrics
Track and report:

Required Qualifications
  • 8–12 years of overall experience.
  • Minimum 5–8 years leading accessibility projects or teams.
