About this role

The 2L and 3L Student Practitioner (SJC Rule 3:03) Academic Year Internship is designed for law students who are seeking to gain on-their-feet experience practicing in state criminal court. Students will practice in the District Court under SJC Rule 3:03, maintaining their own caseload of approximately 20-30 cases and litigating every stage of a criminal case in the trial court, including arraignments, bail hearings, pre-trial proceedings, motion practice and trials. Students will also raft pleadings for their cases, including certificates of discovery, oppositions to evidentiary motions, motions in Limine, and other trial documents.

Students may complete the internship for school credit, if they are able to make an arrangement with their institution. Students work on a flexible schedule designed to accommodate their specific class requirements.

Enrollment in an ABA-Accredited law school.

Compliance with SJC Rule 3:03, with specifics depending on the student's class year and clinical work.

Active SJC Rule 3:03 certification for the student obtained by the student's law school either before or during the internship.
