At their June 8, 2021 meeting, the City Council approved the construction contracts for the first part of a walking trail that will eventually surround the perimeter of the park, and for an extension to Midtown Park Boulevard that will complete the thoroughfare through the park from Villa Maria Road to Williamson Drive. David Schmitz has been named the Interim Director of Parks & Recreation and Facilities for the City of Bryan. Linda Cornelius, the City of Bryans Parks & Recreation and Facilities Director, passed away on June 22, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. The City of Bryan Municipal Office building and all other city administrative offices will be closed in observance of Independence Day on Monday, July 5 and will resume normal operating hours on Tuesday, July 6, 2021. Members of the public are invited to attend an informational meeting about planned improvements to South College Avenue from West Villa Maria Road to Carson Street in Midtown.
